Evaluating employee performance examples10/13/2023 ![]() It’s not necessarily a stand-alone implication of strong or weak performance. To determine an NPS, customers provide a number between 1-10 on how likely they are to recommend the company’s product or services to other potential clients.įrequently, this score is taken into consideration when evaluating employees working in customer service or sales. ![]() And, depending on the employee’s role, it can also be an indicator of performance. NPSĪn NPS or “Net Promoter Score” is an HR metric that reflects a customer’s satisfaction, and loyalty. ![]() An even better and more reliable option is to manage 360 feedback with performance management software. Some employers choose to use a 360-degree excel template to organize, score, and keep track of questions. Having more participation provides employers with a wider range of information and a more comprehensive understanding of the employee’s performance, skill sets, and areas of improvement. This is not to be confused with 180-degree feedback, in which only an employee’s manager and colleagues are part of the process. 360-degree feedbackģ60-degree feedback is a way of measuring employee performance in which an employee’s manager, peers, direct reports, and customers provide feedback. And, they can be especially effective when used in tandem with career pathing tools, like Factorial’s OKR software, to ensure that employees are fulfilling their long-term professional development objectives. Whereas those who have high performance but low potential are so-called workhorses that might be well-placed in their current position.ĩ-box charts are an excellent way for employers to make sure that employees are a good fit for their given roles. Those who receive both high performance and potential scores are star employees who often advance up the career ladder fairly quickly. Then, managers plot these scores onto the 9-box grid.Īfterward, employers look into the specific archetypes that define employees based on their 9-box results. During evaluations, employees receive a numerical score for their potential and performance. Essentially, it is a 3×3 square chart (9 boxes total) with the x-axis representing potential and the y-axis representing performance. Use a 9-box gridĪ 9-box grid is a performance management tool that allows employers to consider and evaluate employee performance and potential. Here are some different tactics that many businesses implement to have a well-rounded understanding of their team’s efforts. After all, the more information and data available, the better off you are. The truth is, many businesses adopt several models. Let’s begin by pointing out that there is no one “right way” of evaluating and managing employee performance. ![]() And this dialogue is even more effective when it occurs continually. As a result, employers rate and evaluate employees behind closed doors, without their participation or input.Īlthough performance appraisals alone might not be a sufficient representation of how much effort that employees put forth, they do open the door to conversation and dialogue. Without performance reviews, employers still need to make choices regarding their employees and they need to use the information to back up their decisions. The reasons why?īy providing employees with feedback about their performance, employers can promote fairness, transparency, and development. Over 87% of Facebook employees indicated that they prefer to keep performance reviews, according to a recent Harvard Business Review report. However, there is evidence that suggests otherwise. In fact, many argue that performance reviews are part of an archaic model that is no longer needed nor relevant in today’s working reality. More often than not, both managers and employees dread performance reviews.

Halo halo drink10/13/2023 ![]() ![]() But since it’s a bit difficult to find, using crispy rice cereal is a great substitute. “Creamy heaven” is more accurate :)įinally the ice cream is topped with pinipig, or toasted flat rice. I suppose it tastes like a yam, but that doesn’t do it justice. Ube ice cream isn’t overly sweet, which is why I love it. Ube is a sweet yam that has the most gorgeous natural purple color. What the heck is ube?! It’s the stuff that dreams are made of, that’s what. Tsaa Tea Shop on the Danforth serves a mean halo-halo amidst an endless list of teas. Now for the non-negotiable part: you must top the ice with Ube ice cream (and in our house, also Mango ice cream). The dessert drink is also gaining some popularity among non-Filipinos in Toronto. Today, halo-halo can be found in shopping malls, restaurants, and in homes. This was not only because of the heat, but also because of the availability of the seasonal ingredients. Historically, halo-halo was sold along roadside stands in the Philippines during the summer months (March to July). The origins of the first halo-halo are difficult to trace, but historical records reveal that in the 1940s, Japanese women groups introduced a variation of the ice dessert in the Philippines and perhaps incorporated local ingredients later. Cultural activist and performing artist, Carlos Celdran, often uses halo-halo as a metaphor for Filipino culture-the dessert is made up of a multitude of ingredients, mirroring our country’s unique culture that is the result of influences from American, Spanish, and Japanese colonization. Regardless of what the components are, the dessert will always include a varied mixture of assorted ingredients. His halo-halo featured avocado, kiwi, mango, and nuts, and was well received. Filipino-American chef, Dale Talde, prepared a unique version of the dessert on the reality TV show Top Chef. The ingredients listed above are not finite recipes vary from region to region, and individuals are also free to manipulate halo-halo to their liking. What differentiates this pairing from a snow cone is the inclusion of fruits (such as jackfruit, plantain, and coconut palm), beans (garbanzo, kidney, and red), and tapioca underneath the ice, as well as the leche flan (Filipino custard), pinipig (young crushed rice), and ube (purple yam) ice cream that is used to top the dessert. The basic foundation of halo-halo is shaved ice that is bathed with either evaporated milk or condensed milk. Literally translated from Tagalog, halo-halo means “mix-mix”, and it is the perfect name for this distinctly delicious concoction. The Filipino community is especially lucky to have and share a drink that doubles as a cold dessert: halo-halo is a Filipino dessert-drink that is part slushie and part sundae. Among the multiple options available, Toronto’s multiculturalism offers a variety of refreshing drinks hailing from all corners of the world. Torontonians can expect to sweat, but cooling off has never been easier. The erratic drops in temperature are hinting at summer’s demise, but the city’s forecast for the long weekend promises a brief heat wave to cap off the season. Jriver app10/13/2023 ![]() I still have my trusty media pc and when I have it and the Pi hardwired to my network there is no difference in SQ between using the old pc as a server with the Pi as a renderer and native playback on the Pi no matter what Pi OS I use. *If you already own Jriver on a pc, you could just install volumio or moode on your Pi and configure Jriver to play to them. To be fair, and in my experience, Volumio and MoOde also have missing album art problems but those OSes are free to download. This isn't a tagging issue, its a speed issue and is never a problem in the full version of Jriver. Issues: Often when I use JRemote, album art is sometimes missing on the playback screen. On first time start up, Id Pi indexes your music library much faster and is more reliable than other Raspberry Pi software I have used. The android/apple app remote JRemote is amazingly good. Jriver's web based control known called 'Panel' is just plain better and feels way more solid than the interfaces for Volumio and MoOde. Sound quality wise its great - equal to Volumio and MoOde. ![]() Jriver does not seem to have any plans for streaming integration even for the pc, mac or linux versions - a point here for Volumio which at least offers a pay version with streaming integration. You will probably need an extra app like BubbleUpnp to accomplish this (similar to what you have to do with the free version of volumio). Id-Pi does not offer streaming integration but you should be able to use it as an endpoint from say a smartphone with a streaming app provided the app can see it on the network. Streaming? Spotify? This time the Pi2AES whipped the shit out of my media pc so I went about trying out different OS'es for the PI. JRiver on Android is the media engine of JRiver Media Center with a simplified user interface. I eventually stuck with my media pc with pro-grade audio card with AES out. I tried using a Pi back in 2016 but the audio hats were not what they are today. After purr1n posted his review and how to for the Pi2AES, I decided to give the Raspberry Pi another shot at becoming my primary digital transport. Ash and ember10/13/2023 ![]() It continues to stay hot and does not lose its thermal energy quickly because combustion is still happening at a low level. This happens because the usable chemical energy is so deep into the center that air (specifically oxygen) does not reach it, therefore not causing combustion (carbon-based fuel + O 2 → CO 2 + H 2O + C + other chemicals involved). This is because embers radiate a more consistent form of heat, as opposed to an open fire, which is constantly changing along with the heat it radiates.Īn ember is formed when a fire has only partially burnt a piece of fuel, and there is still usable chemical energy in that piece of fuel. ![]() They are often used for cooking, such as in charcoal barbecues. Alternatively, embers can be used to relight a fire after it has gone out without the need to rebuild the fire – in a conventional fireplace, a fire can easily be relit up to 12 hours after it goes out, provided that there is enough space for air to circulate between the embers and the introduced fuel. In order to avoid the danger of accidentally spreading a fire, many campers pour water on the embers or cover them in dirt. They radiate a substantial amount of heat long after the fire has been extinguished, and if not taken care of properly can rekindle a fire that is thought to be completely extinguished and can pose a fire hazard. Deja vu movie conspiracy10/13/2023 ![]() Most likely it was a legit blown light, but even then, someone who happened to be lurking in the alley might take advantage of it.īetter safe than sorry, that was Gavin’s motto. It was possible someone with that kind of technology might target random passersby, though. Why would they be? Well, gay-bashers might single them out, but not to the point of planning ahead and lying in wait. “You know”-Matthew sounded droll-“if somebody with the ability to turn off a single streetlamp at will is after us, they’re going to get us eventually anyway.” They would pass an alley on that side, too, but the streetlamp at its end shone brightly, and nothing-or rather nobody-was visible from their vantage point. Gavin slowed and checked over his shoulder to make sure the street was clear, then steered Matthew across the expanse of pavement. Nonetheless, no sense in inviting trouble when there were easy options to avoid it. Just because Gavin and Matthew were the people to see this one shine its last lumen didn’t mean there was anything nefarious about the timing. Lights went out, and odds were someone would be around to see it when it happened. Halfway home, foot traffic dropped to a trickle, and a streetlamp ahead of them winked out. A pair of footsteps behind them took a right turn, and others replaced them, merging from a side street to join the handful of others still there. Matthew’s movements remained buoyant even with the solidity of his strides. He listened out of habit rather than because he felt any undue concern. None stood out until they’d traveled several blocks, and the traffic-both foot and vehicular-thinned.Įven then, none of the noises stood out as exceptional or disquieting in any way, only now Gavin could distinguish the individual sounds. The thud of their steady steps, sounding heavy with their solid thick-soled boots, blended with the general background clamor of footsteps and cars buzzing by. Romantic gestures like that always brought a smile to Matthews’s lips, and Gavin loved nothing better than to make the love of his life smile. ![]() Matthew’s eyes glimmered merrily from the twinkling lights around the movie posters they passed. “Okay.” Gavin lifted Matthew’s gloved hand to his lips for a brief kiss. He needed to stop letting his military background affect everyday decisions here in the real world. With plenty of people still out and about, that outcome was unlikely, and he kept that pessimistic thought to himself. Getting mugged on the walk home would screw it up even more, but Gavin glanced down the street. “I don’t want to risk a stinky cab messing up the beauty of this night.” “It’ll be fine.” The light from the streetlamp reflected off Matthew’s dark chocolate-brown eyes, making them shine, and Gavin’s heart melt. “It’s pretty late.” Although, a growing number of people were hailing taxis, so most likely he and Matthew would be waiting a while if they held out for one. “I don’t know.” Gavin gave that hand-warm even through their gloves-a firm squeeze. “Let’s walk home.” Matthew clasped Gavin’s hand and flashed his eyebrows. No doubt snowflakes landed on his own head, but Gavin figured they probably looked more like dandruff on his short, wavy, black hair. Scattered flakes adorned Matthew’s chin-length, floppy brown hair and short, tidy beard like he’d had glitter tossed on him. “Snowman snow,” if enough of the stuff fell to the ground. The kind that made one want to turn their face to the sky and open their mouth to catch a flake or two on their tongue. Granny would have called it “Christmas snow,” large, wet flakes drifting gently from the clouds high above. None but the brightest stars would have been discernable anyway due to the ambient big-city lights.Ī light snow was falling. The mostly full moon lay hidden behind a sky full of clouds. Gavin stepped nimbly, warmed despite the brisk, fresh air. Besides, a contented Matthew invariably morphed into a cuddly Matthew. Personally, Gavin would rather have watched Bad Santa, but the sappy movies were well worth sitting through, because Matthew was so easygoing and never complained when they went with Gavin’s preferences. They’d come out to watch the cinema’s annual double feature of It’s a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story. That particular noise meant Matthew was contented. Matthew made that purring hum that landed somewhere between a sigh and a soft laugh on the scale of sounds Gavin used to read his husband’s moods. Gavin and Matthew pushed through the theater’s outer doors into the chilly night along with the rest of the holiday revelers.
